HBS Group Southern to deliver energy efficiency measures for Network Rail

HBS Group Southern has been appointed to deliver energy efficient solutions for Network Rail, under a framework agreement that’s set to run for the next five to seven years. The framework will involve the investigation and implementation of energy performance contracts across some 7,000 locations. HBS are aiming to deliver improvements in energy reduction and efficiency, as well as offering low carbon solutions.

Network Rail own and operate Britain’s railway infrastructure and are one of the largest purchasers of energy in the country. HBS will help Network Rail increase their operational efficiency through planned programmes of energy and carbon saving measures. Enabling Network Rail to move progressively towards a low-carbon supply of energy and achieve their regulated targets for energy and carbon reduction.

Under the framework agreement, HBS Group Southern will be responsible for conducting technical energy audits of selected sites and presenting proposed energy efficiency measures as well as offering a range of financing and funding options.

Following the audits approval, the Group will design, supply and install renewable technologies and a range of energy efficiency measures across Network Rail’s operating portfolio.

James Bull, HBS New Energies Managing Director, said

“The Network Rail Framework represents a truly fantastic opportunity for HBS to demonstrate its proven expertise in delivering energy efficiency solutions. Our professional and innovative approach will help tackle inefficiencies across their infrastructure head-on. We look forward to working with them to implement low carbon energy initiatives that will minimise their energy consumption and carbon footprint in line with their targets.”

The appointment continues HBS Group Southern’s strategy in helping some of the UK’s most energy intensive organisations cut carbon emissions and operate in a more energy efficient and sustainable manner. This follows the success of long-term framework agreements secured with Anglian Water, Bristol Water, United Utilities, Coal Authority and Northumberland County Council to name a few.
