HBS celebrates 300 kWp Wain Homes solar contract win

We’re delighted to announce that Wain Homes (South West) has named HBS New Energies as its trusted solar installation partner for Saxon Gate, an exciting new housing development of 198 high-quality homes in the town of Ivybridge, Devon.

HBS will design, supply and install Complete In-roof Solar systems for 123 new low-carbon dwellings. Following a competitive tender process, we provided the most cost-effective PV scheme to help Wain Homes meet their planning obligations and achieve sustainability targets.

Saxon Gate is the latest scheme of energy-efficient properties from the award-winning housebuilder’s South West office. The development comprises of 2, 3, 4 & 5-bedroom houses; all beautifully designed and built to an assured quality standard.

Wain Homes will be providing much-needed affordable housing for the South Hams community, by allocating 20% of the 198 new homes at Saxon Gate as affordable. These are being adopted by the housing association LiveWest.

James Bull, Managing Director at HBS New Energies commented: “I’m delighted that Wain Homes has selected HBS as the solar contractor for their new low-carbon community in Ivybridge, Devon. This is our first time working with Wain Homes and it presents an exciting opportunity to demonstrate why we are one of the most trusted and proven new build solar specialists in the industry. We will be focused on streamlining the solar specification process for their team and supporting the construction of much-needed energy-efficient new homes.”

A Complete In-roof Solar solution for Wain Homes

With a specific need to discharge a site planning obligation through on-site renewable generation. HBS New Energies’ design team worked closely with Wain Homes to engineer a Complete In-roof Solar solution that maximised kWh performance within the specification and budget.

Selected dwellings at Saxon Gate will feature sleek and low-profile black in-roof solar panels with average PV array sizes of 2.4 kWp.

Works are set to start on site later this year and HBS will use its own specialist direct labour force consisting of professional roofers and fully qualified electricians to deliver the 123 x Complete In-roof Solar system installations.

Totalling nearly 300 kWp, the reliable, safe and aesthetic Complete In-roof Solar roofs at Saxon Gate will generate an estimated 304,656 kWh of zero-carbon electricity per annum, offsetting annual carbon emissions by an impressive 158,1 tonnes.
