Legal & General Homes appoint HBS New Energies as solar delivery partner for next phase of Buckler’s Park
We’re proud to announce that Legal & General Homes has awarded HBS New Energies with the contract to design and install a 128.4 kWp new build solar PV scheme across 37 sustainable homes at phase 2 of their award-winning Buckler’s Park development in Crowthorne, Berkshire.
A former test site owned by Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), Buckler’s Park is an exciting new sustainable community set in over 250 acres being developed by Legal & General Homes. Due for completion in 2028, the 1000-home mixed tenure development, which includes 100 affordable homes, will make a significant contribution to meeting Bracknell Forest Council’s identified housing requirements.
The contemporary styled homes will include one bedroom apartments, two, three, four and five bedroom properties all constructed to a high specification. They will enjoy a range of smart technology features and energy efficiency measures that include roof-integrated solar PV panels and EV charging stations.
John Allan, Managing Director, at Legal & General Homes, commented:
“Today’s homes should be fit for the future, which is why it’s important we make them as sustainable as possible. Energy innovation is a big part of this and we’re proud to be working with HBS New Energies at Buckler’s Park to make this possible for our residents.’’
Meeting Legal & General Homes energy targets through solar PV
With a need to achieve a 19% saving in CO2 emissions through on-site renewable generation, HBS New Energies design team value engineered a specification for roof-integrated PV systems to ensure the energy and sustainability targets were met cost effectively.
The solar panel system sizes range from 2.4-4.2 kWp for the houses and 2.4-4.6 kWp for the apartment blocks, maximising roof space whilst offering a modern looking finish for each new home.
When phase 2 is complete, the 128.4kWp residential PV scheme will generate an estimated 120,244 kWh in annual zero carbon electricity. The inclusion of roof-integrated solar panels will reduce the carbon emissions at Buckler’s Park by 62.4 tonnes per year.
James Bull, Managing Director, HBS New Energies said:
“We’re delighted that Legal & General Homes have selected HBS New Energies as their solar delivery partner for phase 2 of this major multi-tenure site.
