HBS Group Southern complete the mechanical and electrical building services package for 200 new homes at Daedalus Village, a Wates Residential and Homes England’s Flagship Project in Gosport, Hampshire.
In April 2019, Wates Residential selected HBS Group Southern as its delivery partner to design, supply and install all plumbing, heating and electrical services for 200 new homes at Daedalus Village. This large-scale regeneration scheme in Gosport is the first project in Homes England’s new national accelerated delivery programme.

In March 2020, Wates Residential took quick and effective action to implement measures in response to COVID-19 and enable safe working during lockdown to a controlled level of production. With the workforce reduced to 40% and single trades allowed per plot, our mechanical and electrical installation teams adapted to new ways of working to safely progress critical works for private and affordable plots to programme.
Now complete, Daedalus Village comprises a mix of tenures and sizes, with 120 private homes and 80 affordable homes managed by Abri housing association formerly Radian. The housing development has increased the number of new homes available in Gosport, helping to fulfil the local housing need.
Summary of new build M&E services
- HBS Electrical and HBS Mechanical managed all aspects of supply, installation, testing, commissioning of the project’s gas, heating, water and electrical system requirements for the 200 new homes at the Daedalus Village development.
- The internal and external electrical services being undertaken by HBS’ experienced new build electricians include energy-efficient LED lighting, 18th edition consumer units, general small power, smoke detection, MVHR, TV+BT and external lighting.
- The mechanical services undertaken by HBS’ highly skilled plumbing and heating engineers include domestic hot and cold water and central heating, soil and wastewater systems, sanitaryware and rainwater goods.
- To ensure compliance with regulations, our on-site teams will adhere to HBSGS in-house quality process during 1st fix, 2nd fix and final installation. This focus on strict quality control will ensure a consistently high standard throughout the building programme.

Following the handover, HBS Aftercare will now provide a 24-hour 365-day after-sales service to the residents at Daedalus Village for two years.
