The energetic team from HBS Group Southern are currently limbering up for another challenging Barratt Homes Relay Marathon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on the 14th May.

The charity relay marathon is a community event held in the spring of each year, on the Broadlands Estate. In 2016, the event raised over £70,000 for charities and good causes and we hope to help surpass this figure. The event was founded by the Rotary Club of Romsey who continue to organise the event today.

Originally inspired as part of the Olympic Legacy, the relay marathon is open to the whole community, raising both funds and awareness for local charities and good causes.

With little over two weeks to go, employees from HBS’s head office are now readily preparing themselves. The unique event involves teams up to 10 members, who it in turn will run 2 laps of a 1.3mile course before passing the baton to the next team member. The oldest competitor to date has been aged over 80 and the youngest was 8 years old, so really is an event for everyone.

HBS have chosen to raise money for Macmillan Cancer. The UK’s largest charity provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. The charity is close to the heart of the company’s owners with family members receiving some amazing support from Macmillan over the years.

Jonny Brady, Marketing Manager, HBS Group Southern commented:

“We are very much looking forward to taking part in the fifth Charity Relay Marathon at Broadlands Park next month and raising money and awareness for Macmillan.”

“It is great to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause whilst also receiving much needed encouragement from our colleagues, clients and suppliers. To all those taking part we wish you all the very best of luck.”
