HBS Group Southern complete the mechanical and solar PV package for 371 homes at Kier Living’s award-winning Kingsmoor Park regeneration project in Woking. Built to CfSH Level 4 and powered by solar, this new community boosts affordable housing provision for the area.

Following a comprehensive tender process, Kier Partnership Homes appointed HBS Group Southern as their trusted partner to manage the delivery of all mechanical and solar PV installation requirements for 371 new homes developed at Kingsmoor Park in Woking.

In a joint venture between Kier Living (Central), Thames Valley Housing Association and Woking Borough Council this award-winning mixed-use regeneration scheme was completed in 2018 and now provides a selection of contemporary and high specification 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes and 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. Designed and built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, Kingsmoor Park has boosted the local housing supply with 224 affordable homes and 147 homes sold on the private market.

HBS positively impacted the smooth delivery of this project, enabling the efficient installation of plumbing, heating and solar PV systems from start to finish. Over the 4-year period our specialist teams remained flexible on site, completing all works to a consistent high standard in line with a fast-paced build programme.

Project delivery

  • HBS Mechanical provided a comprehensive plumbing and heating package for 371 residential dwellings over 9 phases, coordinating the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of all gas, heating and water system requirements.
  • Lead by a dedicated contracts manager, the scope of works undertaken by our on-site engineers included; domestic hot and cold water, central heating, waste water systems, sanitary ware, gas supply and rainwater disposal systems.
  • At each stage of the works HBS ensured all installations complied with our in-house quality requirements and in accordance with Gas Safe Regulations, Building Regulations and client specification.

  • HBS New Energies in-house design team specified an in-roof solar tile system for all house types and on-roof mounted solar arrays for the apartment blocks. This proved to be the most cost-effective solution to ensure that every dwelling achieved CfSH Level 4 and the 10% renewable energy target within budget.

  • The 428 kWp new build solar PV scheme is generating up to 342,000 kWh in zero carbon electricity and delivering 214,000 kg in carbon savings per year. The inclusion of photovoltaics at Kingsmoor Park will now provide valuable energy savings for the private homeowners and help combat fuel poverty for the social households.
  • Following handover in 2018, HBS Aftercare has now adopted this large-scale scheme and will provide a 24 hour 365 day after sales service for two years following handover.
